Handango Buyer Survey Third-party software is a powerful influencer in the decision to purchase a smartphone or handheld, according to a recent Handango survey of mobile content users and their behavior. The in-depth results from more than 14,000 buyers of mobile downloads revealed that the selection and quality of third-party software had a "strong influence" or "somewhat of an influence" on 69% of the users' decisions to purchase their mobile devices. The availability of third-party software was also ranked as the third most important influencer in a device buying decision behind only "need in my personal life" and "need in my line of work". .

"Unknown" Nokia Nseries??? Nokia announced Nseries smartphones only a few months ago and now they are planning to release some more Nseries smartphones. Some pics of supposedly new Nseries smartphones have leaked on the net. At least there are 2 upcoming models which looked like using Series 60 platform. Nokia 3G 6280 Mobile Phone Announced Today, at the Nokia Connection events in Helsinki and Singapore, Nokia introduced seven new handsets under the heading "Simple Pleasures." Four new slide phones were revealed, including the 3G-enabled Nokia 6280 for WCDMA markets, and the Nokia 6265, Nokia's most feature-filled CDMA model to date. Additionally, Nokia introduced two folding designs and a traditional monoblock design. All seven models are expected to begin shipping in the second half of 2005. .

Skulls.L is a minor modification of Skulls.C trojan, about the only differences are that Skulls.L is named the same as F-Secure Mobile Anti-Virus installation package, and that the trojan shows dialog text "F-Secure Antivirus protect you against the virus. nokia concluded: software-wise maybe we can’t beat microsoft, but since microsoft can’t do hardware in mobile phones and we can, so we will put stress on hardware and add hard disks, 3G, videotelephony, wi-fi, 3D graphical processors and other hardware goodies - in this way we will screw Microsoft up!

Symbian SDK on Unix HOWTO The SymbianOS SDK is built to run on a WIN32 system. It consists of 2 toolchains. One for building the code for the Epoc32-Emulator on Windows (called the WINS target) using one of the commercial C++ compilers from Borland, Metrowerks or Microsoft.A second one, using gcc for the so called MARM target which is the phone itself (e.g Nokia 6600 or SE P910). Symbian released the modified gcc source together with the source for 4 important tools, which makes it possible to build C++ programs without a Windows emulator. Alternatives: It is possible to get the second chain running on Unix. There are more alternatives, which are different in how the makefiles are built: The one described in this document, where you use makefiles directly. Bulding console C/C++ programs (.exe), shared libraries (.dll) or C++ applications (.app) is supported. There are even builtin rules to build a complete sis file (i.e. installation file), so you do not need to fight with the .pkg file syntax. GnuPOC, which takes the "Symbian" way, using makmake to generate makefiles from "makmake project" files (.mmp). .
