SYMBIAN NEW TROJANS DOUBLES IN ONE DAY Symbian anti-virus specialist SimWorks announced today that it has identified 52 previously unknown trojans for the Symbian platform, more than all of the trojans and other malware for Symbian based devices combined identified to date. The trojans appear to be cracked versions of popular Symbian applications such as BitStorm, BugMe!, Cosmic Fighter, 3D Motoracer and SplashID. In addition to the installation files for the application itself, the files also include various versions of previously known malware such as Cabir and Locknut. SimWorks CEO Aaron Davidson says “This is a significant development as until now we've usually found mobile trojans two or three at a time at the most. It would be easy for a malware writer to create 1 trojan and give it 52 different names however this is not the case here where we have 52 separately cracked and infected applications. Somebody has gone to an awful lot of time and effort to turn these out”. “Previous mobile viruses have either been able to spread but cause no harm or alternatively have been able cause significant harm but not able to spread. .

Symbian UIQ Handy Tools 2005 Professional As a business person always on the road I need tools which make my life easier. As a technical nerd I have been testing many platforms and programs. The P900 equipped with the Handy Tools 2004 is the first solution which really works for me . I can easily keep an overview of my meetings , I can handle travel data in the database and keep track of my expenses. In addition I can define call-lists professionally and have a working task-manager. For the call-list/desktop I used Tracker from Symbianware before, however, Tracker is a lot less professionally programmed and somewhat "playful" to use (however - the service was quicker and nicer - anyway - to me the product counts first). Tested some programs - now I am really happy about the program "Handy Safe". At last I have my passwords all in one place and do not have a nervous breakdown when I miss my P900 from time-to-time. As I have to manage IT professionals from time to time I claim to be able to judge usability and quality of programming. In contrast to many other programs I tested those Handy Tools Suite 2005 really makes sense. .

Symbian UIQ Benq P31 Specifications The Symbian based PDA , the P 31 is the next in line after the successful P30. Handwriting recognition, 1.3 Megapixel camera and the huge touchscreen are just a few things that the P 31 has. Base specifications include tri-band 900/1800/1900 MHz GSM/GPRS, but unfortunately there's no EDGE support - something of a faux pas for a communicator that's just gone on sale. As for other connectivity, we have USB, Infrared and Bluetooth, which is suitably comprehensive. .

Monopoly Schmonopoly I'm fed up with people complaining that Symbian has a monopoly in the Smartphone market. Many (if not most) of those who complain are Microsoft fangirls who refer to the monopoly as being unfair and abused while the minority who don't have a Windows powered brain compare the monopoly with Microsoft's monopoly on the desktop.

While I hold the opinion that Symbian is by far the best platform for any Smartphone, I also believe that Symbian got to where it is in the market by being first, by being innovative and by being bold with the backing of willing companies. I also hold this opinion; Symbian does not have a monopoly in the Smartphone market and here I'll present some of the evidence behind my claim...
