Consumers against battery program for iPhone

The Foundation for Consumer and Taxpayer Rights fired off a letter to Apple and AT&T Inc., the cell phone's exclusive carrier, complaining that customers were being left in the dark about the procedure and cost of replacing the gadget's battery.

Million activations of Apple iPhone

Apple stores across the US are almost out of iPhone, as unconfirmed reports suggest mobile operator AT&T have activated over 1 million iPhones in almost one week since Friday's launch. Apple's retail locator list was today showing that iPhones were unavailable in all but a handful of its stores across the US.

iPhone Hacked No Activation Required

DVD Jon, with real name Jon Lech Johansen (guy who braked the CSS protection on DVDs), has cracked the activation process on the iPhone. Phone Activation Server v1.0 is a Windows application which will bypass the registration required to unlock the iPhone's functions. The iPhone does not have phone capability, but the iPod and WiFi work.

AT&T stores nearly out of iPhones

In a sign of strong initial demand, AT&T said it had sold almost all its phones within hours of the device going on sale at its 1,800 stores. The company did not say how many units it had sold.
